The Business Navigator project is a totally new programme of support. It provides businesses with expert assistance and grants to help them improve their energy use, waste production, staff’s health and safety and also the appearance, fire safety and security of their premises. The programme is open to all businesses with less than 250 employees throughout South Derbyshire and consists of three main elements:
- The Premises Navigator
- The Performance Navigator Club
- The Resource Navigator Club
The Premises Navigator provides free advice to improve the security, fire risk and external appearance of company premises. The Performance Navigator Club gives free guidance on improving health and safety and environmental performance and The Resource Navigator Club offers free support to improve waste management and energy efficiency. In addition to providing expert advice to those taking part, Business Navigator can also provide financial assistance for external work to increase security, prevent arson and improve landscaping.
Business Navigator is being delivered by Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire in partnership with Business Link, Derbyshire Business Against Crime, Derbyshire Fire & Rescue, Gerrard & Associates and T4 Sustainability. The Business Navigator project will be available until March 2009 with funding coming from the Department of Communities and Local Government, Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DDEP), Envirowise and South Derbyshire District Council.
