We have in place a range of established consultation mechanisms. Here are the main ones:
Area Meetings
Area meetings provide an opportunity for public participation by acting as a forum for discussion on matters of local interest. These meetings are held across the District throughout the year. Councillors and Council Officers go out to six areas cross the district to listen to comments from residents about their area and to report back to them about what the Council is acheiving for them.
Our Citizens' Panel is an important part of our consultation commitment and provides a voice to local people, giving them the opportunity to express their views and to put forward their ideas on a wide variety of subjects.
Online Polls
Online Polls provide a snap-shot of public opinion on current topics that help us identify issues we may need to explore further. These are usually 'quick-fire' survey that ask for a yes or no response.
Consultation Methods and Tips
The Consultation Toolkit provides information about different methods of consultation and tips on how to undertake an effective consultation.
