Carbon Footprint

What is a carbon footprint?

A carbon footprint is a way of working out how much of the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, your lifestyle generates. If you are aware of how much carbon dioxide you are responsible for you can make changes (often very small changes) which will significantly reduce your footprint.

Why reduce my carbon footprint?

Reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will make a difference to climate change. In addition reducing your carbon footprint can save you money and help you keep fit.

What is South Derbyshire District Council doing to reduce their footprint?

In 2005 SDDC signed up to the Nottingham Declaration.

We are providing a free Carbon footprint calculator. Anybody can calculate their Carbon footprint. All you need is a little information such as an old electricity and gas bill.
