Climate Change

FloodingOur climate is changing and this is going to affect us all - here in South Derbyshire and around the world. The weather is always changing, but there has been a dramatic rise in temperature in the last 25 years.

There is now strong evidence and almost unanimous agreement that this warming is the result of human causes such as deforestation and an increase in the 'greenhouse effect'; heat trapped by gasses such as water vapour, carbon dioxide and methane. Producing more of these gasses is like putting an extra blanket over the Earth - and the hotter atmosphere could be responsible for stronger storms and other extreme weather events.
