House mice can cause a great deal of damage by eating, gnawing and contaminating foods. They urinate constantly and carry diseases such as salmonella. House mice reproduce very quickly. Two mice can produce 120 offspring in one year. Each offspring is then able to reproduce within 8 - 12 weeks.

They damage and destroy property and can cause fires by gnawing electrical cables. They can get through a gap the diameter of a pencil. Each mouse can produce 80 droppings a day. Droppings are similar size to a grain of rice and are often the first signs people see of infestation.

Council Pest Control Officers will deal with pests that are harmful to public health and well being at homes and businesses. Rodents, that is Rats and Mice, can be particularly unsettling due to their possible transmission of diseases. The Council will respond to request for service in relation to these pests within 3 working days at no charge to households and for a fee at non residential locations.

Officers call by prior appointment and apply safe and effective treatments. If for any reason the problem persists they will return and make every effort to ensure the pest is eradicated.
