Background
We are preparing an Area Action Plan (AAP) for an area of land between Woodville and Swadlincote Town Centre to bring about economic and environmental improvements. We have, with the support of the Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership, appointed Atkins to assist in taking the AAP forward.
The AAP is being prepared under the new arrangements for the planning system established under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 which introduced Local Development Frameworks.
The document is currently at the initial 'Issues and Options' stage. A range of 'baseline' evidence is being collected and key issues and options were explored at a workshop event organised by the District Council and Groundwork Erewash in June 2006. The event was attended by local businesses and existing site occupiers and other local stakeholders.
A consultation leaflet was published on 23rd February 2007. It summarises the key issues identified so far and presents three alternative strategic options. It was widely circulated in the area to generate further public comment and ideas. The consultation has now closed.
