Tenant AgreementTenant Participation Agreement

To provide the services and standards you want, we will continue to develop and support tenants throughout South Derbyshire to get involved. By working together and finding out your views and priorities, we can be sure that we are providing the services you want in the way that suits you best.

Participation Agreement for Tenants of South Derbyshire

The participation agreement between us, the South Derbyshire Tenants' Forum and local district Councillors sets out how we will involve tenants and leaseholders so that we can take account of your views, opinions and priorities before we make decisions.

This agreement contributes to our service standards, equal opportunities policy and arrangements for managing performance and planning services.

We want to make sure we deliver the best services to all council tenants and leaseholders. We also want to improve the quality of life for tenants and residents in their homes and on their estates.

The Participation Agreement aims to:

  • Make sure that tenants and leaseholders are involved at an early stage to influence their housing services;
  • Create a range of processes (both formal and informal) so that tenants can choose how involved they want to be;
  • Involve all sections of the community and develop ways to attract groups who are traditionally under-represented (such as young single people and families, disabled people, and people from black and minority-ethnic communities);
  • Make sure we use staff and money to promote the widest possible levels of involvement;
  • Support tenants and tenants’ groups to gain the necessary skills so that they can play an active part in shaping housing services;
  • Make sure that tenants have good-quality information that allows them to get involved in a meaningful way;
  • Make sure all tenants and leaseholders (and other residents where appropriate) receive feedback on how we took account of their views (from both formal and informal processes) when we make decisions;
  • Make sure we, other partners, tenants and residents work together to tackle environmental and other local issues; and
  • Make sure the housing service continues to improve and provide value.
