With funding from the Heritage Lottery, through the Parks for People grant scheme, we are developing plans for the refurbishment of Eureka Park, to bring it back to its former glory, and seeking your views.
Background
Eureka Park is a traditional open park which provides a green oasis close to the centre of Swadlincote and is used daily by many people, from dog walkers to school children, from sports clubs to walking groups.
The facilities in the park today include a well-equipped children's play area, bowling green, crazy golf course and tennis courts all in a parkland setting surrounded by almost 300 mature trees.

The project
With funding from the Heritage Lottery, through the Parks for People grant scheme, consultants Ashmead Price have been appointed to help develop plans for the refurbishment of the park, to bring it back to its former glory. Working with Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire, who are carrying out public consultation on the project, and the Friends of Eureka Park, a new Masterplan for the park is being drawn up, which outlines suggestions for improvements.
A sketch plan is shown below, which is the first draft. Please click the image to see a larger version:

What do you think?
We are inviting comments from you to tell us what you think of these ideas. Following future consultation, a final scheme will be produced later this summer. The plans will be submitted to the Heritage Lottery in the new year with an application for capital funding, to help make the drawings reality.
You can tell us what you think by filling in the form at the foot of this page.
