Hilton Junior Tennis Programme

At the start of 2008 The Hilton Junior Tennis Programme will be formed. This will give every child in the area the opportunity to play tennis. The Programme will focus on the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Mini Tennis standard and will be initially aimed at children from school years 1 to 6.

Mini Tennis is adapted to the age and ability of younger players, using tailored equipment and smaller courts.

The Programme will provide a grounding in basic skills (hand-eye co-ordination, judgement, mobility, fitness), which form the building blocks for a wide variety of sports. In addition to the physical benefits, children will further develop their social skills, teamwork, personal confidence and self-discipline.

The programme will be managed and run by Indu Chera, an LTA Licensed Tennis Coach. Indu has a level 2 DCA qualification and a Community Sports Leader Award (CSLA), and is CRB checked and fully insured.

Initially sessions will be held on Saturday mornings (weather permitting) as follows:

9:00am - 10:00am 5yrs to 7yrs / 10:00am - 11:00am 8ys to 10yrs / 11:00am - 12:00pm10yrs to 12yrs

Sessions will be run in term time and will cost £3.00 each. There will also be mini camps held during school holidays and Individual lessons are also available.

In preparation for the start of the Programme in 2008, "taster sessions" will be held on Saturdays, 10, 17 & 24 November 2007 (weather permitting), giving parents the opportunity to see if this is something their child would be interested in and benefit from.
