The Talented Mr Jarvis

South Derbyshire District Council is committed to improving local skills and encouraging talented and enthusiastic youngsters to be committed to work for the people of South Derbyshire.

Says Mark Alflat, South Derbyshire’s Director of Community Services, “Back in September 2006 18 year old Joe Jarvis joined South Derbyshire District Council as a modern apprentice. Joe has proved himself skilled in the important work of grounds maintenance looking after the District’s parks, bowling greens, sports pitches and even roundabouts. He’s also pretty good with the academic NVQ part of his apprenticeship. Joe stormed through his studies ahead of schedule and started his third year early. Now there’s a full time position in our grounds maintenance services and Joe Jarvis has proved himself more than worthy of this job.

“We are proud that Joe has achieved so much in such a short time and we are sure that he will do his best to help us make South Derbyshire even more clean and green.”
