The Licensing Act 2003 aims to promote four key objectives to enable more freedom for business operators and customers, while clamping down on crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour.

The objectives will be mainly met through the introduction of two new types of licence, a premises licence and a personal licence.
We will issue both of these new licences.

As required by law, we will be setting up a new Licensing Committee to oversee and manage the licensing process. The council must also produce a Licensing Policy Statement that explains how it will operate the licensing scheme for the next three years.

Certain premises are exempt from paying a fee for the premises licence. These include church halls, village halls and schools and colleges (where the entertainment is provided for the school and for educational purposes).
