For householders wanting to make minor alterations without submitting full plans of the work, please use the building notice submission form. However, this does not mean that you have formal approval.

For all other applications, please use the full plans submission application form.

For replacing windows, please use the windows application form, and consult the windows application guidance notes.

If you have undertaken building work without permission, you must apply for a regularisation certificate for retrospective approval. Please be aware that you may need to re-open the building works for inspection. Please use the regularisation submission form.

Applications must be submitted with the correct fee. For details of charges see the building control fees document.

Electronically

Select the relevant form for your application. Please make sure that you select the 'email' version.
Click on grey boxes to enter details. Type your name into the signature box.
Save the completed form to your computer and attach to an email OR at the top of your screen, go to File > Send to mail recipient (as attachment).
Also attach any drawings, plans and additional information that you would like us to consider as part of your application. We prefer pdf or Word format.
Send the email to building.control@south-derbys.gov.uk
We will phone you to collect the payment by debit or credit card (some cards may attract an additional fee). Alternatively, if you are confident of the correct fee for your application, you can post a cheque to the address below. You can contact us by phone to confirm the correct fee.

By post or by hand

Select the relevant form for your application. To fill the form in electronically please make sure that you select the 'email' version. Otherwise select the pdf version, print and complete by hand.
Include the drawings, plans and additional information that you would like us to consider as part of your application.
If you are confident of the correct fee for your application, you can include a cheque. You can contact us by phone to confirm the correct fee. Alternatively, when we receive your application we can phone you to collect the fee by debit or credit card (some cards may attract an additional fee).
Package everything up and post to us at the address below.
