Health, Safety and Wellbeing for the Hairdressing and Beauty Trades- 3 March - Salon managers, supervisors, self-employed or home and mobile workers are invited to attend a free event at the Hermitage Hotel in Coalville from 5 to 8pm. The event aims to share good practice techniques and pick up new tips and advice on staying safe, fit and healthy at work. There will also be advice on how to make sure you are complying with the law.

Low Carbon Initiative - 25 February - This event at Derby Conference Centre will inform businesses of the Low Carbon Initiative, emerging and significant opportunities in low carbon markets, how to get involved and what help is available from the Manufacturing Advisory Service to make the most of those opportunities. 

Advanced Manufacturing Initiative - 25 February - This event at Derby Conference Centre will inform manufacturers of the Advanced Manufacturing Initiative, how to get involved and what help is available from the Manufacturing Advisory Service.

Tender Opportunities for London 2012 - 4 March - Business Link is hosting a number of events across the region for businesses to find out about opportunities related to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, including this one at The University of Derby's City Campus.

Upcoming Derbyshire Chamber events   - The Chamber offers a comprehensive programme of events throughout the year. These range from networking and social events through to business seminars and management training. 

Tourism Workshops - Visit Peak District and Derbyshire are offering a range of workshops for tourism and related businesses in 2010.

Environmental Technology Centre - By considering environmental issues businesses can increase efficiency and profitability, while creating excellent marketing opportunities. Free help is available to small and medium sized businesses to make improvements through the adoption of more efficient use of resources, environmentally friendly working practices and the use of cleaner and more sustainable technologies.

Supplier Guide for 2012 Olympic Games - Advice and opportunities for businesses of all sizes looking to supply products and services to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, from large construction contracts to small items for the Games themselves.

Redundant Building Grant Scheme - Grants are available to convert redundant buildings for business use, particularly workspace. Grants of between £10,000 and £75,000 are available to meet up to 25% of eligible conversion or refurbishment costs.

Business Navigator - Free expert advice is available to improve the security and external appearance of company premises, together with financial assistance to undertake improvements.

Derbyshire Rural Retailer - A website designed specially for retailers in rural Derbyshire including news, training, events, networking opportunities, specialist support and advice, together with a shop club.

Think Business - Business Link has launched a new microsite, dedicated to providing a clear, online access point for anyone looking for inspiration and advice on the range of information and support available for starting-up their own business. The site will also be hosting webinars with experts talking about different aspects of starting a business in the East Midlands. Users can also register their details to get a free Business Link starter pack and can request to be contacted by a Business Link Adviser for one to one support and advice.

Derbyshire WellConnected - Whether your business is large or small, urban or rural, the Internet and information technology can help you better your business. The WellConnected programme includes a telephone advice line, a dedicated website, events and grant funding.

Search for Business Grants on J4B - Small businesses can search free of charge for grants on the J4B website.

MentoringforAll East Midlands   - is designed to help East Midlands business owners access the knowledge and expertise of another business leader to develop their own skills and competences.

HighGrowth East Midlands   - is the exciting new flagship business support scheme from the East Midlands Development Agency. It has been designed to help ambitious and forward thinking businesses achieve their potential and to enhance sustainability in existing high growth businesses in the region. HighGrowth East Midlands provides world-class support, advice and mentoring which will be tailored to suit the needs of individual businesses.

New Loans for Entrepreneurs  - aspiring entrepreneurs who have encountered problems raising finance for their business ventures, are set to benefit from the launch of a new initiative by the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and First Enterprise Business Agency (FEBA). Enterprise Loans East Midlands aims to help 1,000 businesses over the next ten years, by offering loans of between £3,000 and £20,000. The loan fund is specifically designed for those people who are unable to access finance from traditional sources such as banks.

Construction Skills   - Corporate College is offering a range of fully funded NVQs at level 2 to employers in the workplace. The aim is to raise the skills level, confidence, motivation and morale of employees while decreasing expenditure and increasing the productivity and quality of businesses. They are experts in this field being part of EMCON Construction Centre of Vocational Excellence.

Working Well  - this initiative aims to improve the health status of the working age population by providing health promotion and health & safety advice and support services to workplaces. 

Rural Development Programme for England   - grants mainly targeted at land-based businesses  including farmers, foresters, horticulturists and equine businesses.  The programme aims to: Add value to agricultural, horticultural or forestry products – including the development of new products, processes and technologies; Improve co-operation and collaboration between businesses to improve efficiency – including infrastructure and equipment investments; and, Promote diversification in the rural economy.

Derbyshire Against Business Crime   - free security advice is available from local business crime advisers, tailored to the needs of individual companies.

Foot and Mouth Disease, Avian Influenza and Bluetongue   - the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) website gives information about the health and welfare of animals, including protecting and improving livestock and controlling and eradicating disease.

Melbourne Shopping Directory  - Melbourne Business Association launches guide to the historic town and its shopping centre of mainly independently owned businesses.
