For events attracting less than 499 people you may need a TEN for 500 plus you will have to apply for a Public Entertainment License.
If you are holding a function where there is entertainment or sale of alcohol anytime of the day or night, or if hot food or hot drink is available, you need to apply for a temporary events notice.

must be informed at least 10 working days before the event. The law states that if you apply any later you won’t be allowed to hold the event. If you are holding a major event, please contact the council early in your planning so they can help you avoid potential objections and hold ups.
The fee for a temporary event notice is £21 and should accompany the notice sent to the Licensing Authority. Please read the guidance notes available through the link below to ensure correct completion of the application form. The regulations require that two copies of the Temporary events notice are forwarded to South Derbyshire District Council and one copy to Derbyshire Constabulary
Certain premises are exempt from paying a fee for the premises licence. These include church halls, village halls and schools and colleges (where the entertainment is provided for the school and for educational purposes).
