Swadlincote Pancake Races, sponsored by Mainline Energy Solutions, took place on Shrove Tuesday 21 February 2012 in The Delph Marketplace, with proceeds going to Sport Relief. Competitors took on a specially designed 150m long course, whilst tossing their pancakes in the traditional style from frying pans.
In the Mascot Races, sponsored by Richardson’s Furnishers, Billy Brewer of Burton Albion Football Club took the Gold medal, Rascal Rabbit of East Midlands Airport took Silver, and Polo, The Polar Bear of Swadlincote Ski & Snowboard Centre took Bronze. Ten Mascots took part in three heats and a final.
The Furniture Showroom Showdown, sponsored by Roger James Furnishers, was won by the ‘Furniture Flippers’ from Richardson’s Furnishers, ahead of teams from Toons Furnishing.
In the Team Races, the Gold medal went to ‘Flick ‘n’ Brilliant’ from Keystone UK with a time of 53.71 seconds, the Silver medal to the ‘Mainline Team’ from Mainline Tools & Plant Hire/Mainline Energy Solutions, and the Bronze medal to ‘Flippin’ Disasters’ from SDDC Planning Policy. The Best Olympic-Themed Fancy Dress, sponsored by Chameleon School of Construction, was won by the ‘Flippin’ Depot’ from SDDC Waste & Cleansing.
The Event Sponsors were Chameleon School of Construction, J.B. Kind, Mainline Energy Solutions, Richardson’s Furnishers and Roger James Furnishers.
