Coroners office

Coroners are independent judicial officers appointed by the local authority to investigate any death which is violent, unnatural, sudden or unexplained or occurs in prison.

Coroners are also responsible for deciding whether finds of gold and silver are "treasure trove".

Derbyshire County Council has details of The Coroners Service.
