The Wardens, keen to let people know what work they do, will provide weekly posts highlighting the key aspects of their roles. They will also give continuous updates on the issues residents say are important to them.
Issues dealt with by the Wardens include stray dogs, anti-social behaviour associated with groups of youths, fly tipping, issuing fixed penalty notices for a range of offences and dealing with abandoned vehicles.
Jack Twomey, the Council's Environmental Protection Manager, said: "The Wardens have been employed by the Council for about three and a half years now, and provide a reassuring presence to people living in towns and villages across the District.
"South Derbyshire is a low crime area and our experience of dealing with groups of youths is at odds with what is often portrayed in the national media. We hope the blogs will assist us in showing that South Derbyshire is one of the safer places to live in the UK.
"The blog will also give our residents the opportunity to respond to the things we are doing and make suggestions as to how we can better meet the needs of the community. The blog will showcase the work we are undertaking and the results we have been achieving.”
