Jog into January

14 January 2014

Not every single person joins a gym in January as part of a New Year’s resolution to get fit.

In South Derbyshire, some people prefer the freedom, fresh air and no cost attraction of the Jog Derbyshire group.

“New Jog Derbyshire groups in South Derbyshire are open for new joggers for 2014,” said Lewis Adams, South Derbyshire District Council’s Physical Activity Officer.

“The groups can kick start a healthier lifestyle in 2014. Starting on Tuesday January 28, the Swad Joggers group is running a ‘First Steps to Fitness’ beginners group. Meeting at Swadlincote Ski Slope, the sessions will run from 6.15pm until 7pm. It’s aimed at inactive or returning runners who wish to improve their fitness and get into running again.

“For those looking for more of a challenge, an intermediate group runs from 7pm until 8pm and is ideal for those who can already jog continuously for 20 minutes.”

The eight week course is led by an expert leader. Full support and motivation is provided throughout the course.

Lewis Adams concluded, “As an extra incentive, all new participants will receive a free running buff headwear and special certificate when they complete the eight sessions.”
