However, South Derbyshire District Council staff do provide some education activities for adults and children, as follows:
South Derbyshire Environmental Education Project
- Provides environmental education visits and advice for schools at Rosliston Forestry Centre, other sites in the District, and in school grounds.
Youth Engagement Through Sport and Sports Development
Waste Development Team
Can help schools and their Eco-Committees develop recycling projects, eg:
- Recycling vehicle visits (multi-material and refuse vehicle)
- Mobile education and exhibition vehicle in conjunction with Derbyshire County Council
- Visits to recycling and compost plants
- Recycling plays
- Cash for Trash (this a money raising scheme for shools dependant on the number of tonnes of paper collected)
- Textile collection scheme for schools (this a money raising scheme for schools dependant on the number of tonnes of textiles collected)
'Let's Kerb It' Education Pack
Democratic Services Team
Find out more about how the council functions, and how decisions are made. Opportunities for schools to use the council chamber for debates and stage their own mock election.
Safer South Derbyshire Partnership
Provides help and advice to schools eg School Safety Day, information on drug and alcohol support services and anti-social behaviour.
