Applying for a premises licence

A licence needs to be held for any premise which provides entertainment and/or alcohol and/or late night refreshment.  This will include mobile food traders operating in the evening after 11pm.  If alcohol is sold, consent needs to be obtained from a Designated Premises Supervisor.

You can find the application for a premises licence form, declaration for a club and consent designated premises supervisor documents in the related documents section. You will need to print and complete the forms offline and then return to us by post.

In addition to the application form the following must also be included or undertaken:

  • A plan of the premises at a scale of 1:100
  • The appropriate fee needs to be forwarded to South Derbyshire District Council. See Fees and Charges (in the related documents section)
  • An advert must be placed at the premises and in the local paper
  • Copies of plans and application forms must be forwarded to responsible authorities.

Provisional statement

Where premises are being constructed for the purposes of being used for one or more licensed activities or are being extended or otherwise altered for that purpose (whether or not they are already being used for that purpose) a person may apply for a provisional statement if they have an interest in the premises and, if an individual, that they are aged 18 years or over.

Fees

For details of fees relating to all application forms, please see Fees and Charges document in the related document section.

Certain premises are exempt from paying a fee for the premises licence. These include church halls, village halls and schools and colleges (where the entertainment is provided for the school and for educational purposes).
