If you're organising a social event, don't forget that you may now need a licence.
If you are holding a function where there is entertainment or sale of alcohol anytime of the day or night, or if hot food or hot drink is available after 11.00pm, you need to apply for a temporary events notice.
You need to tell Licensing Officers at South Derbyshire District Council and Derbyshire Constabulary Licensing Section at:
Derby Divisional HQ
St Mary’s Wharf
Prime Park Way
Chester Green
Derby
DE1 3AB - at least 10 working days before the event.
* For information relating to temporary event late notifications (5-9 days) please see 'Temporary Event Notice Application & Guidance' document at the bottom of this page under 'Related documents'.
If you are holding a major event, please contact the council early in your planning so that we can help you avoid potential objections and hold ups.
The fee for a temporary event notice is £21 and should accompany the notice sent to the Licensing Authority. Please read the guidance notes below carefully to ensure correct completion.
The regulations require that two copies of the temporary events notice are forwarded to South Derbyshire District Council and one copy to Derbyshire Constabulary (see responsible authorities for address or email address).
Applications must be received by Derbyshire Constabulary and South Derbyshire District Council not less than ten working days before the event. For larger events we recommend that not less than one months notice be given.
You can apply and pay online using the Business Link website. If you do not already have an account with the Business Link website, you will have to register first.
