Before booking a cat or dog into boarding accommodation it may be worthwhile to visit more than one establishment as some catteries/kennels may suit the needs or temperament of your cat/dog better than others.
All animals must be up to date in terms of vaccinations before being accepted at a boarding establishment and proof of such will need to be provided to the proprietor upon arrival.
The aim of the licensing requirements is to achieve certain standards in the management of the accommodation and to ensure precautions against disease and fire. Attaching relevant conditions to the licence ensures that animals are kept in suitable accommodation.
No person may keep a boarding establishment for animals without a licence from their local council. Before making an application you are advised to contact the planning office for advice on whether you need planning permission.
You can apply and pay online using the Business Link website. If you do not already have an account with the Business Link website, you will have to register first.
