Private hire licensing

South Derbyshire District Council's Licensing Authority adopted the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 which gives power to the authority to licence private hire operators, drivers and vehicles in 1980.

At this point in time the authority does not issue Hackney Carriage licences.

Private hire vehicles must be pre-booked via an authorised private hire operator, and it is essential that the driver, vehicle and operator are all licensed by South Derbyshire District Council.

The menu contains information on how to apply for a new licence, as well as how to renew or transfer an existing licence.

If you wish to make a complaint against a licence holder, please complete the complaint form.
