RSS News Feeds

What is an RSS News Feed?

RSS IconRSS (Really Simple Syndication) or news feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can select the content you like and get the latest headlines in one place, as soon as its published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feeds from.

It also allows you to display the news feed within another website.

How do I get started?

To get started you need a 'News Reader'. This is a piece of software that checks the feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications. If you do not currectly have a News Reader, some free ones are listed below.

What next?

Once you have a News Reader you can subscribe to the South Derbyshire District Council News RSS feed or the South Derbyshire Community Events RSS feed  in one of three ways:

  • Drag the RSS button to your News Reader
  • Drag the URL of the RSS feed to your News Reader
  • Right-click the RSS Button to copy the URL of the RSS feed and paste it into your News Reader
