Friends of Newhall Park

Membership is open to all members of the local community and partner organisations are also invited to meetings. The group meets four times a year at The Old Post Centre, Newhall.

The activities of the organisation have so far included:

  • tree and bulb planting
  • painting buildings
  • litter picking
  • fundraising
  • public consultation
  • organising funds and commissioning the new outdoor gym facilities
  • providing new picnic benches
  • generally trying to involve more and more local people in the future of our park.

Memorial Garden

Friends of Newhall Park have been successful in obtaining funding for The Community Remembrance Memorial Project which will see a structure put up in the park to act as a focus for remembrance later in 2015. There will be a plaque to commemorate 69 soldiers who died in the First World War, 36 from the Second World War, and three since. The plans include creating a circular seating area by the memorial gates and putting up a plaque with the names of those who died.
