Welcome to our adult activity pages.  Listed below you will find details of activity sessions and in the menu on the left, links to health schemes related to adult fitness.

SOCIAL BALLROOM DANCING

Come and Join Alan Axon, dance teacher for 15 years at one of his fun and sociable dance classes. Alan specialises in two left feet and reluctant men!

  • Melbourne (Bill Shone) Leisure Centre - Thursdays, 10.30am - 12 noon (until the 23rd December 2010, classes will continue in 2011 time tbc)
  • Swadlincote Town Hall - Thursdays, 1.00pm - 2.30pm 
  • Hilton Village Hall - coming soon
All classes are £2 per person and everyone is welcome!

JOG DERBYSHIRE

If you are new to jogging / running then these sessions are perfect for you. The session will aim to increase running fitness through walking and jogging. A qualified jog leader will always be on hand to provide advice and motivation to help you reach your goal.

TUESDAYS:
Hilton Village Hall - 6.30pm
Etwall Leisure Centre (Beginners) - 6.00pm
Etwall Leisure Centre (Advanced) - 700pm
Melbourne (Bill Shone) Leisure Centre - 8.00pm

WEDNESDAYS:
Belmont Primary School - 9.00am
Green Bank Leisure Centre - 7.00pm

Price: 
£1.50 per session or £10 for a 10-week block.  This includes help and advice from a qualified Jog Leader and a jog log book to help you stay motivated and on track.

If you are interested in becoming a Jog Leader and setting up your own jogging group please contact us.

NORDIC WALKING

Nordic Walking uses specially designed poles to enhance your natural walking experience. With a technique that is similar to the upper body action of classic cross country skiing, Nordic Walking becomes a genuinely whole body exercise that can be enjoyed at many levels, from walking for health to athletic Nordic running. More than 10 million people globally enjoy this outdoor activity all year round.

  • Reduce the stress on your lower limb joints
  • Relieve tension in your neck and shoulders
  • Improve co-ordination

Etwall Leisure Centre – Tuesdays, 10-11am and 6.30-7.30pm 
Rosliston Forestry Centre – Thursdays, 10-11am
Green Bank Leisure Centre - Mondays 1.00-2.00pm

£3.00 per person including pole hire / £1.50 per person if you bring your own

OVER 50’s CYCLING

Suitable for beginners or people that haven't been on a bike for a while. Sessions led by experienced leaders on safe cycle trails around the site.

Location:
Rosliston Forestry Centre – Fridays, 10.00-11.00am

Price:
£1.50 per person if you bring your own bike / £3 per session if you borrow one from the Centre.

CHAIR BASED EXERCISE

Chair Based Exercise sessions are taking place all over South Derbyshire in conjunction with SDDC and the 50+ Forum.  This activity is perfect for those who have limited mobility as all the exercises are completed whilst sat at a chair. 

Sessions are led by a qualified instructor.
