Volunteering in sport

Would you like to help to develop our future sports stars or do you struggle to find people to help support the running of your sports club?

Individuals with time to spare

Would you like to help to develop our future sports stars?

Do you have some spare time to commit to a local sports club or activity group?

Let us help you find a sport or leisure volunteering opportunity – we need you!

Many clubs and groups rely on the goodwill of volunteers to coach, manage and help with the administration and day to day running of sport. As more children, young people and adults begin to take up activities to get fit and healthy, clubs are in need of more volunteers to help support their growth.

Even if you only have one hour available per week, this could make a huge difference to our sports clubs and groups.

If you would like to make a difference within sport, if you have some spare time available either at evenings or weekends and if you fancy a new and exciting opportunity then follow the next steps:

  1. Log on to do-it.org.uk to search for the latest sports volunteering opportunities in South Derbyshire

    or

  2. Drop into or phone the South Derbyshire Council for Voluntary Services in Swadlincote to find out how you can get involved and give something to sport in your area:

Further Opportunities

Clubs or organisations who need volunteers

Do you struggle to find people to help support the running of your sports club?

Do you need more volunteers?

Let us help you!

Our Sport and Health team have teamed up with South Derbyshire Council for Voluntary Services to launch a new initiative aimed at raising the numbers of volunteers in sport. We are working together in a number of ways to raise the profile of sports volunteering across the district.

We understand that many clubs and groups rely on the good will of volunteers to coach, manage and help with the administration and day to day running of sport. We also understand that often there are not enough volunteers available to support all the roles necessary to make a club run smoothly.

There are a couple of easy steps you can take to begin to help us support you:

  1. Register your organisation and volunteering opportunities with the South Derbyshire Council for Voluntary Services: download the forms below, drop in or contact South Derbyshire CVS at
    44-48 Grove Street
    Swadlincote
    DE11 9DD
    Tel: 01283 550163
  2. South Derbyshire CVS will then post your opportunities on the National Volunteering Database (do-it.org.uk) where people can browse online and search for opportunities within South Derbyshire

Following the registration of sports clubs across the district, the Sport and Youth Development Team will be working hard to raise the profile of the do-it.org.uk website to encourage people to give up some free time for sport.

If you require any further information or any support with regards to volunteering in sport then please get in touch with the Sport and Youth Development Team using the details below.
