Get Active in The Forest is based at Rosliston Forestry Centre and is a way of being active, having fun and burning calories all at the same time.
Get Active in The Forest is an outdoor activity programme, which aims to increase community participation in sport and physical activity. GAIF aims to deliver a wide ranging programme of different physical activities at Rosliston Forestry Centre and around South Derbyshire. These activities are suitable for beginners, and include walking, cycling, Tai Chi and Nordic Walking, woodland laser combat, orienteering and archery.
Most of the activities take place outdoors and make the most of our natural environment. Studies show that the environment plays a vital part in our mental well-being. When compared with exercising indoors, exercising outdoors has a greater effect in lifting self-esteem and mood levels and decreasing levels of depression.
Many of the activities take part on a weekly basis and anyone can join in. All the activities are led by either a member of staff or a trained volunteer. Other activities that do not take place on a weekly basis can be booked in advance by groups.
