Sports grants and funding

Every year, we invite nominations from county level performers and above to apply for a small sports grant to assist with the costs of competing at this level. The scheme is run by South Derbyshire Sport and also includes a sports pass scheme, which gives performers free access to use some of the district sports facilities.

We will review sports grant applications three times a year. Deadlines for applications are 21 August 2010, 30 November 2010 and 28 February 2011

Derbyshire Sport Coach Bursary Fund

A new scheme has been launched in the county which will benefit sports coaches across our district. Coaches can apply for up to £200 or 50 per cent of the cost of recognised Coach Education courses, whichever is the lowest amount. National Funding Schemes

Sport England runs a number of Lottery Funded schemes for capital and revenue projects. Check their web pages for up to date details.

Many sports clubs have accessed Awards For All, the Lottery Fund for small groups to help with financial assistance for new projects such as setting up a girls section within a sports club.

The Big Lottery Fund is another organisation which sports clubs and sports organisations have tapped into with great success. Their schemes inlude: Reaching Communities, Childrens Play, Community Learning and Community Buildings.

Community Amateur Sports Clubs have the opportunity to apply for tax relief. This can be done in two ways, either through the Charities Commission or through HM Revenue and Customs

Assistance with grant applications

To help sports clubs identify potential funding streams and the considerations involved when submitting a funding application, we have developed the Funding Guide. The guide is a starting point to assist clubs and organisations in their search for funding for sports projects. There are sections providing hints and tips for completing funding application forms, followed by some advice on securing sponsorship.

The guide is available to download below.
