£50 for 50+ Survey Winners

Press release and photocall 17 June 2008

There will be a photocall at the Swadlincote and District 50+ Forum at Church Gresley Methodist Church on Thursday 19 June, 2008 at 12 noon. Ten winners of the prize draw for entries to the survey will be presented with supermarket £50 shopping vouchers by Mrs Gill Farrington, Chair of the 50+ Forum

Since the start of the year, over 900 people have taken part in the South Derbyshire Age 50+ Survey. The survey aims to find out what physical activity older people would like to take part in and if they are affected by the fear of crime.

The information has been collected so that it can help improve services for older people provided by South Derbyshire District Council, Swadlincote and District 50+ Forum, South Derbyshire Council for Voluntary Services, Safer South Derbyshire and Derbyshire County Primary Care Trust. It was funded by Derbyshire County PCT and the Healthier Communities group of the South Derbyshire Local Strategic Partnership.

Each person who completed the survey was entered into a prize draw to win one of ten supermarket shopping vouchers. Ten winners have been selected at random and will be presented with their prizes at the next Swadlincote and District 50+ Forum. Winners come from across the District including Etwall, Willington and Swadlincote. As well as the prize presentation, 50+ Forum members will be given an overview of the 50+ Survey and the next steps for the project.
