Jog Derbyshire

Make the most of living and working at the heart of The National Forest by joining the new jogging and walking group which is meeting every Tuesday from 19 August at Swadlincote Woodlands from 5.30 pm until 6.30 pm

Says Cllr John Lemmon, Chairman of South Derbyshire District Council’s Housing and Community Services Committee, “We created a woodland which put new life into the centre of Swadlincote. Our sports development team is using this wonderful natural resource to encourage people to get fit, lose weight if they want to and to start running.

“If you are new to running then this session is perfect for you as the session will aim to increase running fitness through walking and jogging. A qualified jog leader will always be on hand to provide advice and motivation to help you reach your goal.”

Cllr Lemmon continues, “In our Annual Report we showed how we are improving the health and wellbeing of our community. In 2007-2008 we had more than 40 led walks throughout the District and we promised to establish jogging groups in ten areas this year. This is our first group based in Swadlincote. In the future we plan to have jogging groups in areas such as Stenson Fields and Melbourne. If you would like to know more about our achievements and our plans for the future, please have a look at the Annual Report on line at www.south-derbys.gov.uk/annualreport If you would like a copy, please contact the Council at the Civic Offices in Swadlincote. If you would like to set up a jogging and walking group in your community or if you want to know more about the jogging in Swadlincote Woodlands, please contact Lewis Adams, our Community Sports Coach on 01283 595772 or email lewis.adams@south-derbys.gov.uk
