News release issued 23/07/2008
Let the kids make the most of the school summer holidays by staying out with you really late on Friday 25 July, 2008 at Rosliston Forestry Centre.
South Derbyshire's environmental education project has organised its annual Nightworld event at Rosliston Forestry Centre from 7.30 pm until 11.00 pm.
Says Kate Allies, South Derbyshire’s Environmental Education Manager, “Families can come along to Nightworld and meet owls and bats, see moths close up and discover the world of stars. For the first time this year there’s a chance to find out about badgers too.”
The Hub Café will be open at Rosliston and the evening begins at 7.30pm with talks and demonstrations from Aurora Falconers, Rosliston Astronomy Group and the South Staffordshire and also the Derbyshire Bat Group. From 9.15 pm until 11.00 pm there will be outdoor activities including the opportunity to use telescopes, visit the moth trap with the Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire Entomological Society, take part in a bat walk and learn about badgers from the South Derbyshire Badger Group.
The event costs just £1.50 per person and £5 for each group of up to five people. There’s no need to book, just turn up for all or part of the evening.
