Are you interested in what happens in your local community? Do you want to get more involved in decisions that affect you? Why not come along to the next South Derbyshire District Council Overview and Scrutiny Committee?
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 17 September 2008 at Rosliston Forestry Centre. There will be a tour of the Centre at 5pm and then the meeting starts at 6pm.
Cllr Charles Jones, Chairman of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee would like to encourage more local people to get involved. Says Cllr Jones “I would like to invite people from South Derbyshire to see local democracy in action. At our next meeting we will be discussing Rosliston Forestry Centre, NHS dentists and broadband in South Derbyshire, along with other topics which affect the local community.”
“Our committee provides an informed second opinion of the work of the Council and its committees. Councillors try to stand apart from the organisation and from political views to judge as objectively as possible the work of other committees. We work constructively with councillors and other individuals outside and inside the Council to ensure that we operate effectively and efficiently.”
The agenda for the Overview and Scrutiny Committee can be found on the Council’s website www.south-derbys.gov.uk
