Rapping robot Recycler

There will be a photocall at Church Gresley Infant and Junior School, York Road, Church Gresley DE11 9QQ at 2pm on Monday 29 September, 2008 with Recycler and pupils

Recyclerthe rapping robot is coming to South Derbyshire next week to spread the word on recycling.

Between 29 September and 2 October Recycler will be visiting primary schools in Church Gresley, Swadlincote, Newhall, Willington, Hatton and Woodville to bring recycling to life through his lively, multimedia educational show.

Says Cllr John Bladen, Chairman of South Derbyshire’s Environmental and Development Services Committee, “Recycler tells pupils and teachers in a fun way all about the three Rs - reduce, reuse and recycle. Recycler shows children what they can do to reduce their waste and put the three Rs into practice at home and school.

"Every household in the UK throws away over one tonne of waste each year and more than half of this could be recycled. Recycler raps to the children all about recycling and what they can do to help. The children quickly pick the rap up and join in – it’s a great way to remember important messages and take them home."

The Recycler programme has been brought to the District by Waste Watch in partnership with South Derbyshire District Council. Waste Watch is a leading environmental organisation which is working to change the way people use the world’s natural resources by advising, educating and informing people.
