Tell me what you want

Cllr John Lemmon, Chris Mason and Zoe Sewter of South Derbyshire District Council are available for a photocall at Eureka Park in Swadlincote on Sunday 25 May at 1pm.They will be with staff from Groundwork Derby and Derbyshire and Ashmead Price Consultants

This Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon, why not go to Eureka Park in Swadlincote and have your say about how to make the park better?

Between 1pm and 4pm staff from South Derbyshire District Council, Groundwork Derby and Derbyshire and Ashmead Price Consultants will be asking people what improvements they would like in Eureka Park.

Says Cllr John Lemmon, Chairman of South Derbyshire’s Housing and Community Services Committee, “We really want to know people’s opinions. We have had £50,000 funding from the Heritage Lottery’s Parks for People programme so that we can have consultants carry out design work.

“They have created some rough sketches with ideas for Eureka Park. They have suggested developing the performance area, working around the cascade in the park, re-instating a junior and full-size football pitch as well as a cricket square and practice area. There could be a trim trail for the walking groups and individuals who enjoy the park. The existing bowling greens, tennis courts and crazy golf course could also be improved.”

Cllr Lemmon continues, “We want people to be involved in making their park better from the very onset of the work. The Council is committed in its Corporate Plan to improving the health and well-being of all members within our community and in providing more things for young people to do. We would like people of all ages to come to Eureka Park on Sunday to let us know how we can improve their park. This way we can ensure that the health and well being of both young and old is improved by providing them with the kind of leisure facilities that they want and need.”
