Press release 29 May 2008
South Derbyshire District Council is one of the few councils in the country to receive a Gold Medal from RoSPA (the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) this year.
South Derbyshire's Housing Services has received an award which is mainly achieved by national companies, such as logistics organisations, construction companies and supermarket chains.
Says Cllr John Grant, Vice Chairman of Housing and Community Services, "It's top marks again for our Housing Services. We look after the people of South Derbyshire in so many different ways and being proactive in preventing accidents and harm to people's health is vitally important.
"Only six other local authorities have achieved this gold high standard this year. Three of those were very much larger county councils. I am proud that we not only offer value for money services but also give care and attention to detail to make sure that our 5,000 customers including Council tenants and CareLine users and also our Council staff are safe."
