Liberation Day, now in its 15th year, is one of those events that gets better with age.
Aimed at residents of the District aged 55 and over, its purpose is to provide advice and information on a range of topics, including how to deal with doorstep callers, fire safety, mobility, fitness, health, pensions and so much more.
It may have a serious message, but what sets it apart is its party like atmosphere. Entertainment is provided, with previous themes including country and western and the swinging sixties.
Liberation Day, which is free, is traditionally held in May each year. Admission is limited, meaning pre-booking is essential. Transport to and from the event will be provided free of charge for those who need it.
Details for the 2018 extravaganza will be announced nearer to the time.
