How do I make a noise complaint?
Complaints can be made online or through a third party such as your local Councillor.
You will be asked to provide full details, including frequency, action already taken and any previous complaints. Anonymous complaints will not normally be investigated.
We will keep the identity of the complainant confidential when the complaint is being investigated. However, you should remember that in certain circumstances your identity may be known to the offender (for example, semi-detached property noise).
Anyone who complains about noise will usually be asked to fill in a noise diary. (pdf, 43kb) We also have noise monitoring equipment which we use to gather evidence if we think that there is a reasonable chance that there could be a noise nuisance.
