Conservation area draft character statements

DRAFT CONSERVATION AREA CHARACTER APPRAISALS - PUBLIC CONSULTATION

The District Council is consulting the public on draft versions of character statements for 11 of its 22 conservation areas, which can be accessed as PDF files at the bottom of this page under 'Related documents'.

We are currently seeking comments on the first batch (11) of these character statements (letters A-R), and will undertake a similar consultation on the second batch (letters S-W) in the near future. A full list of the District’s conservation areas, with their dates of designation / extension, is given below for your information

Your comments are welcome, to be received by Friday 8th April 2011. You are invited to comment about any aspect of the documents, for example factual accuracy, characteristic features which you feel have not been acknowledged, or damaging trends of change which threaten the character of the area.

Comments can be sent by e-mail to planning@south-derbys.gov.uk (please name the message "character statements" and name the conservation area(s) you are referring to), or

By post to: The Planning Department, South Derbyshire District Council, Civic Offices, Civic Way, Swadlincote, Derbyshire DE11 0AH (again, please name the message "character statements" and name the conservation area(s) you are referring to).

Following receipt of comments, the consultation drafts will be amended as appropriate and submitted to the Council’s Environmental and Development Services Committee for adoption.

Printed copies of the consultation documents will be available for viewing at libraries, the Council Offices or through the clerk/secretary of your parish council / parish meeting from the week commencing February 14th.
