South Derbyshire’s SFRA is being prepared in two stages. The first stage (Level 1) comprises of a desk based study collating and reviewing existing flooding information held by the Environment Agency, Water Companies, the District and County Council and other agencies. The purpose of this initial assessment is to provide an assessment of the extent and nature of the risk of flooding in South Derbyshire and its implications for the Local Development Framework (LDF).
A more detailed level 2 SFRA may need to be undertaken later in the LDF preparation process. The purpose of this level of assessment is to reduce uncertainty regarding flood risk to those developments/development sites that could not be located in areas where the risk of flooding is very small. South Derbyshire will review the need to prepare a level 2 Strategic Flood Risk Assessment once housing and employment land allocations are identified. If required this could be undertaken jointly with partner authorities in Derby City and Amber Valley.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the large files size of Appendix E of the South Derbyshire Strategic flood Risk Assessment, this appendix has been broken into smaller files. The Key Plan indicates the broad location covered by the map tiles, which are numbered, and will provide an indication of the tile or tiles which cover the broad location you wish to view.
