Open Space, Sport and Recreation Facilities - Audit and Assessment

Planning Policy Guidance note 17: Planning for Open Space, Sport and Recreation, 2002 includes a requirement for local authorities to undertake assessments of the existing and future needs of their communities for open space, sports and recreational facilities.

The main purpose of carrying out a PPG17 assessment is to ensure that there is adequate provision of accessible, high quality green spaces and sport and recreation facilities to meet the needs of local communities and visitors within the District.
