Swadlincote Retail and Leisure Study

South Derbyshire District Council commissioned Donaldson’s to produce a Retail and Leisure Study of Swadlincote Town Centre in 2005.

The main purposes of the study are to provide us with information and advice:

  • on which to base the retail and leisure strategies and policies to be contained in the forthcoming Local Development Framework, and
  • against which to test the feasibility and deliverability of future proposals for the key town centre sites identified in the Swadlincote Town Centre vision and strategy.

In addition the study seeks to provide a clear understanding of the established patterns of retail and leisure expenditure flows in and around Swadlincote; and to establish the potential of the town to accommodate new retail and leisure floorspace.
