Derby HMA Options for Housing Growth – July 2011

Options for housing growth.

South Derbyshire District Council is working with Amber Valley Borough Council and Derby City Council as part of a shared Housing Market Area to draw up aligned local plans – known as Local Development Framework Core Strategies.

Under a proposed law on ‘Localism’, rigid regional targets setting the amount of new homes to be built in local areas – and where it should be built - will be scrapped. The Government has also made clear its policy is one of development and growth and is urging councils to draw up local plans without delay. We therefore need to consider afresh how much development should take place in the Derby Housing Market Area up to 2028 and where it should be built.
