Planning in your neighbourhood.

Area profiles map small

The Coalition Government has proposed major changes to the planning system.  These are likely to involve scrapping the house-building targets for individual Council areas currently handed down from central government.  Councils will still have a duty to plan for long-term growth through LDFs but local people are also to be encouraged to get more involved in shaping the places they live.  The Government has published the Localism Bill setting out its proposals in more detail.

In view of these changes we, along with Derby City and Amber Valley Borough Councils, are now proceeding in a way which better supports localism.

We have divided the District up into 11 areas and put together a profile of each which, can be viewed by using the navigation menu on the left side of this page.  A map of the 11 areas can be viewed here or downloaded from the bottom of this page under 'related documents'.

The Area Profiles each comprise of a set of four documents that detail the area’s main characteristics and include comments received from residents during our preceding LDF consultations.

Each Area Profile is comprised of a:

  • Summary Leaflet: A summary of the Area Profile
  • Area Profile: Detailed information and the main characteristics of the area
  • Map of the area: a large-scale map showing the key facilities and other points of interest for the area.
  • Technical Appendix:  A list of tables and other information which have informed the area profile document.

Details of the Core Strategy consultations can be found on the Core Strategy page.

Whilst the 'Your Neighbourhood' planning consultation has now closed,  you can still send us comments at any time to ldf.issues@south-derbys.gov.uk
