Swadlincote Pancake Races winners and rankings announced
Competitors of all ages flocked to Swadlincote to put their flipping techniques to the test as part of the annual pancake races.
A bumper entry of 40 teams took part in one of the most pan-tastic events in the South Derbyshire calendar on Tuesday, February 13.
Councillor Michael Stanton, Chairman of South Derbyshire District Council, said:
“The Swadlincote Pancake Races have such a wide appeal as they involve schools, businesses and members of the community. This year, more than 40 businesses, organisations and groups of friends took part in the event. The atmosphere inside the Market Hall Car Park was second to none and we would like to thank everyone for making it such a memorable occasion.”
Falcons House from Belmont Primary School won the school races, with Burton Albion’s Billy Brewer taking the top prize in the mascot races.
Taking home the gold in the adult races was Sainsbury’s Glamorgan Way Local in Church Gresley, with a time of 02:14:50. Clipper Logistics in Swadlincote won silver, completing the course in 02:16:19.
The races raised £143 for Sport Relief. Thanks to all of the teams and members of the public that contributed. The Street Collection Permit was granted to the Council for Tuesday February 13, 2018 for Swadlincote Town Centre (no expenses charged).
