Barrow-upon-Trent Parish Council and Stenson Fields Parish Council made a joint request to us to change their boundaries.
A Community Governance Review, a legal process where we are responsible for reviewing and making changes to local governance arrangements in the District, was agreed and approved.
It was resolved that Barrow upon Trent would transfer around 153.5 acres of land into the parish of Stenson Fields, while Stenson Fields would take in around 197 acres of land to the southwest, which previously sat in the unparished area of Twyford and Stenson. This took effect from April 1, 2017.
As a result of an alteration to parish boundaries, a property which moves from an unparished area (Twyford and Stenson to Stenson Fields) or from one parish to another (Barrow upon Trent to Stenson Fields), has an impact on the Council Tax payable by the occupants of that property, because the amount of precept levied by different Parish Councils varies.
The parish precept is additional to the charges levied by ourselves, Derbyshire County Council, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue.
