Swadlincote Heritage Trails

Our local history archive, The Magic Attic, contains a vast number of photographs and resources from Swadlincote’s past.

These, along with research and photos from individuals, have been used to create a Heritage Trail around Swadlincote in two parts - Swadlincote Town Centre and Swadlincote Villages (Church Gresley, Midway, Newhall, Woodville and Hartshorne).

The Heritage Trail includes some plaques around the town although most of the information will be available online and in leaflets.

Burton and South Derbyshire College students are working on an app so that we can include archive photographs and video clips, plus interviews about the people and places included in the trail.

We are fundraising now to make the vision for the trail a reality. In the meantime, as documents and maps are finished, they will be uploaded to this page.

If you know of any organisations that might be interested in sponsoring the trail, ask them to contact us. This would enable us to create more plaques and/or pay for extra leaflets to be printed.
