South Derbyshire Sports Awards
The South Derbyshire Sports Awards are held each year to celebrate the best sporting talent the District has to offer.
The awards also provide a chance to recognise those who have excelled at grass roots level and the many unsung heroes South Derbyshire has.
Categories are included for coaches, volunteers, clubs and disabled participants, as well as juniors and senior competitors.
The top award on the night is the Sportsperson of the Year. The Sports Awards have been running for more than a decade, with the first taking place in 2005.
Nominations are usually available in the following categories:
- Club of the year
- Community award
- Disabled sportsperson of the year
- Junior sportsperson of the year
- Junior team of the year
- Manager/coach of the year
- Service to sport
- Sportsman of the year
- Sportswoman of the year
- Team of the year
- Volunteer of the year
- Young sportsman of the year
- Young sportswoman of the year
The nominations for 2017 are now closed. Those shortlisted will be invited to attend an awards evening at Pingle School in Swadlincote on Wednesday, October 11, with selected South Derbyshire winners to go through to the county-wide awards on November 9.
