Swadlincote Town Crier
The role of Swadlincote town crier was created as part of our Swadlincote Townscape Heritage Scheme project and made possible through Heritage Lottery Fund money.
The post is held by Karen Bailey.
The crier’s job is making public proclamations, attending civic functions and representing the Council at duties across South Derbyshire, all while dressed in specially researched and hand-made regalia.
Karen is a former lecturer and long-time dance teacher, making her able to relate well to people and share knowledge with them in an engaging and memorable way.
The town crier is looking to attend as many events throughout South Derbyshire as possible and welcomes invites from members of the public, businesses and voluntary organisations.
